After a flirt with racingpigeons in his teenagers years, in 1946 the 42 years old Jef van Wanroy had a serious restart in the Dutch pigeonworld. The fancier from the village Broekhuizenvorst purchased the best pigeons for the long distance there were those years; from his (now world-famous) friend Staf Dusarduyn and the butcher Steegs -who had the pure Bricoux-birds. To those pigeons Jef added birds from the famous 'Hansenne-stock' of Fabry Sr. from Liege. Especially the descendants of the 'Koningin' and the 'Bronzé' meant a great contribution to the stock Van Wanroy. The 'Bronzé' is responsible for the bronze glow that is so typical for the black Van Wanroys.

Fantastic results The stock was completed with a sublime Hornstra-hen, the '11'. Van Wanroy had saved money not trouble to create the stock he had in mind. With never more than sixty pigeons in his loft, Jef van Wanroy went on to be one of the greatest on the overnight. One of his best results he got on the 1970 National St. Vincent, a year before he died. With 7,460 birds in the race, Jef won the second ('t Hartje) and seventh (Famous '90) prize.
In 15 years time, Jef raced 242 National pigeons, from which he won 182 prizes. An incredible success-story. His top-prizes were to many to count on two hands. A grip out of the many: 1st, 4th, 21st, 24th National Marseille; 3rd and 4th National Pau; 2nd and 9th National Dax; 1st and 7th St. Vincent; 1st and 3rd National Barcelona. Van Wanroys death caused a shock to the pigeon world. His family wanted to sell all the pigeons together and the quickest at repartee was Anton van Haaren from Heesch. The Dutch fancier had the Van Wanroy birds at the top of his 'Most Wanted' list, but a visit was postponed several times. After difficult negotiating, Van Haaren set up the transfer of all the Van Wanroy cracks; 'Famous 90', 'Westerhuis', 'Maaskant 372', 'Hartje', 'Oude Spin', '113', '11', etc. The arrival of the Van Wanroys, in particular the lines of the '11', meant the beginning of a successful era for Van Haaren. The pure Van Wanroys and the crossings with the Aardens and Van de Wegens listed fantastic results in Heesch. Anton was for example fifteen times in the top 20 in National races.
The breedingvalue of the Van Wanroy-stock, combined with the great results, moved Hans Eijerkamp and Sons to pay a visit to Heesch. Hans Eijerkamp and Sons also purchased pure Van Wanroy birds from Jef's fellow-villager Jan Hendrix. Jan knew Van Wanroy from his twelfth year on. After Van Wanroys death, his sister-in-law Maria offered the whole colony to Hendrix, for 11 mile. ,,I wanted to buy them, but I had no room at the time. If I would have known everything in advance . . .
'' Because of his friendship with Jef, of course Hendrix had puchased a whole lot of Van Wanroys at his loft. And he got them from the very best; 'Eitje', 'Marseilleduif', 'Mooi Oog', etc. Especially the descendants of the famous pair 'Westerhuis' x 'Famous 90' left their trails in the Hendrix-pigeons. This pair can be found in the pedigree of the father-son-grandson trilogy of Olympiad competitors. Father 'Katowitz 72' represented The Netherlands at the Olympiad in Katowice. His son 'De Olympiade 84' ('Katowitz 72' x 'daughter Marseille') was present at the Blackpool Olympiad. 'Kleine Donkere' ('De Olympiade 84' x 'granddaughter Marseille') completed the success of these now world-famous lines, representing The Netherlands at the Olympiad in Tokyo.

Kleine Donkere 'Kleine Donkere' NL76-749059 was crowned as the best cock of The Netherlands in 1979. That year he made about 4000 prizemiles and won 16 prizes. Almost unbelievable!! Hendrix: ,,He just asked to be basketed. One time I basketed it for Barcelona (approx. 800 miles) just two days after he raced Orleans (350 miles). And he won the 70th National Barcelona . . .'' These results meant just one thing for the Eijerkamp family; they had to have these tyrant. In 1981 'Kleine Donkere' moved to Brummen, where he became one of the finest stockpigeons they ever had. The descendants of 'Kleine Donkere' are truly magnificent. Only in the last three years children and grandchildren of this Van Wanroy-cock raced unequally well: 1st Soignies 9,374 b., 1st International Tarbes 5,008 b., 1st National Bordeaux 3,104 b., 1st National Brive 2,700 b., 2nd National Bergerac 10,420 b., 2nd National Troyes 9,981 b. and 2nd National Dax 6,326 b. JO AND BEN HENDRIKS, TWELLO In 1996 and 1997 Eijerkamp strengthened their Van Wanroy-stock with youngsters of Ben Hendriks. Hendriks, not to mix up with Jan Hendrix, obtained fame in 1980, when he and his father Jo won the race of all races, International Barcelona against 13,863 b. Jo was a true Van Wanroy-lover and as a friend of Jef van Wanroy he knows the stock more than anybody else. In 1970 Jo Hendriks bought late youngsters from Van Wanroy. Within that group there was the '271', a daughter of the famous pair 'Maaskant' x 'Famous 90'. Hendriks told Van Wanroy that he judged the hen as too small. Jo Hendriks: ,,That was the only time Jef ever got mad at me. He spoke the legendary words 'Wait for three years. By then she is the best hen you have in your loft.' He was right, the '271' is the dam of my Barcelona-winner." Jo bought all the direct Van Wanroy-pigeons from Anton van Haaren in 1974, including all the stockpigeons. He continued Van Wanroy's breeding methods and can be labelled as the successor of Jef van Wanroy. As time went on and Jo got older, he slowly passed through the stock to his son Ben, who became just as successful as his father. A grand-granddaughter to Hendriks' International Barcelona winner is 'Katja', a beautiful hen that won 1st National Bergerac in '96 against 16,674 b. She was also the fastest on the day from 39,069 b. In her pedigree we also find the lines of the Van Wanroy stockbird 'Hartje'. She is a full sister to 43rd Nat. Barcelona 7.767 b. Another Van Wanroy quality Ben also discovered another quality of the Van Wanroy-pigeon. He crossed them with Janssen Arendonk and Gommaar Verbruggen pigeons. The crossing of the tough Van Wanroys and the speed of the Janssen and Verbruggen birds meant a breakthrough at the oneday races from 350 till 500 miles. But Ben never made the mistake to let these crossings dominate his loft; the pure Van Wanroys remained the number one stock at his loft. The 'Maaskant 372' x 'Famous 90' became the stockpair at Hendriks. These lines are still the most important ingredient in Ben's exceptional breedingloft. Hans, Evert-Jan and Hans-Jaap Eijerkamp have youngsters from all these stockpigeons. With that purchase they completed their Van Wanroy stock. From every successful pair Van Wanroy had and all his fantastic racers and breeders, the bloodlines can still be found at Eijerkamp.

This supercock won the 1st National Bergerac in 1995 against 40,334 b. To this victory he added the following prizes; 19th National Bergerac '93 19,948 b., 41st National Bergerac '94 15,679 b., 1st Federation Ruffec '94 1,583 b. and 92nd National Ruffec 9,904 b. Black Giant has the best Van Wanroy-lines in his pedigree. His sire descends from the 'Spin' lines of Van Wanroy. The grandsire from the dam's side of 'Black Giant' is an inbred to the 'Spin' and the granddam is a granddaughter to 'Kleine Donkere'. His breedingvalue was proven, when his son 'Shaidani' NL96-1737191 was clocked on 11.11 p.m. from the National race of Brive on the Eijerkamp loft. His National ranking was 6th against 9,148 b., as a yearling! Other children and Grandchildren won a/o 12th National Brive '98 10,362 b., 14th nat. Bergerac 18,871 b., 30th National Bergerac '93 19,498 b., 35th National Ruffec '98 7,440 b., 40th national Brive 8,743 b., 58th National Brive 10,362 b. In 'Black Giant' we first meet with the lines of the 'Spin'. These lines were a very important ingredient to the stock. 'Oude Spin' NL67-821892 was responsible for a whole lot of young spiders, especially at the lofts of Ben Hendriks and Gebr. Kuyper from Neer (who won the 1st in 1976 and the 3rd in 1975 on National Barcelona with a descendant of 'Oude Spin')
De Gouden Witpen and Magic Hero Hans-Jaap Eijerkamp bred and raced 'De Gouden Witpen'. This cock is a grandson to 'Kleine Donkere', the best cock of The Netherlands in 1979 and stocksire of the Van Wanroys at Eijerkamp. 'De Gouden Witpen' won 5th National Ruffec from 13,194 birds and 2nd Provincial Bordeaux 803 pigeons. Before 'De Gouden Witpen' got too disabled to race (the reason is unknown), he won 9 prizes in National races.
